Key Qualifications:

  • Valid state certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing Education (or eligibility)
  • Experience working with children or adolescents who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Strong understanding of various communication modalities (ASL, oral, total communication, etc.)
  • Ability to adapt curriculum to ensure accessibility
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, tailored to their individual needs
  • Consult with general education teachers and support staff to ensure accessibility across the curriculum
  • Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in compliance with special education regulations
  • Collaborate with families to support student progress
  • Utilize assistive technology and resources effectively
  • Document student progress and maintain required records
