Key Qualifications:

  • Valid teaching certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing services in Maine or eligibility to obtain
  • Prior experience working with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, preferably in a school setting
  • Strong understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs) and accessibility strategies
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication modalities
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work effectively with students, parents, and fellow educators

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct and consultative instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
  • Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs tailored to individual student goals
  • Advocate for student needs within multidisciplinary teams
  • Collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to support student access to the curriculum
  • Provide resources and training to staff and families as needed
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
