Grades 6 - 8 K-5 Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (TDHH) - Poughkeepsie, New York

Step into an impactful educational environment supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing across grade levels K-12. This contract opportunity begins immediately and will continue through at least the remainder of the school year, with the potential for extension. You’ll make a real difference by partnering with school teams and empowering students in multiple locations in and around Poughkeepsie, NY.

The schedule runs Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm (37.5 hours weekly), offering a predictable full-time workload. Your weekly caseload will generally include 20 to 30 sessions, spread across 2 to as many as 8 school sites.

Qualifications and Experience

• Valid New York State Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teaching Certificate (required)
• Experience teaching students in grades K-5, 6-8, and/or 9-12
• Familiarity with IEP process, accommodations, and modifications for students with hearing needs
• Excellent collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Flexibility to travel between school locations as needed

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver direct instruction and support to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students across varied grade levels
• Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
• Consult with general and special education teams, families, and related service providers
• Provide training and resources to staff as needed
• Track and document student progress, adjusting strategies to maximize academic and social outcomes
• Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment
