Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid teaching certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH), or eligibility to obtain certification
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education or a related field
- Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, preferably in a school environment
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or total communication approach
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Ability to adapt instructional materials to meet individual student needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, ensuring access to curriculum and fostering academic and social development
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in partnership with IEP teams, families, and other professionals
- Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and school staff to promote inclusive practices
- Consult and train staff and families on effective strategies, assistive technology, and accommodations
- Monitor student progress, maintain accurate records, and participate in required meetings
