Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education (or eligibility to obtain)
- Experience working with students with varying levels of hearing loss
- Proficiency with assistive listening devices and related technology
- Strong skills in sign language (ASL or SEE preferred)
- Ability to develop and adapt IEPs to meet individualized needs
- Excellent communication skills and collaborative mindset
- Innovative approach to differentiated instruction
- Patience, adaptability, and genuine passion for student advocacy
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students with hearing impairments in mainstream or self-contained settings
- Develop and implement educational plans tailored to each student’s communication method and learning style
- Collaborate with general education teachers to modify curriculum and classroom environments as needed
- Offer guidance and resources to families, ensuring strategies are supported at home
- Monitor student progress, maintain thorough documentation, and participate in IEP meetings
- Support the use and management of hearing technology and related classroom resources
- Advocate for students’ needs and access to services within the broader school community
