Qualifications:

  • Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
  • Bachelor’s degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field (Master’s preferred)
  • Experience in educational settings with D/HH students
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication modalities used by students
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, staff, and families
  • Flexibility to adapt instructional strategies to various learning needs

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, adapting lessons to accommodate individual abilities
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and families to support inclusive learning environments
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and track student progress
  • Utilize assistive technology and visual aids to enhance classroom accessibility
  • Advocate for students’ linguistic, academic, and social needs across educational settings
  • Participate in school meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions as needed
