Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Valid teaching credential for Deaf / Hard of Hearing (DHH)
• Previous experience instructing students who are deaf or hard of hearing, preferably in school settings
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and knowledge of various assistive listening devices
• Ability to collaborate effectively with general education teachers, support staff, and families
• Skills in developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Strong communication, organization, and advocacy abilities

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction tailored to the individual needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing
• Use a variety of communication modalities and instructional strategies to facilitate learning
• Adapt general curriculum for accessibility and collaborate with fellow educators to ensure inclusion
• Assess student progress and maintain thorough records in compliance with IEPs and district guidelines
• Advocate for students’ needs within the school community and communicate regularly with families
• Stay current with best practices and education technology relevant to deaf and hard of hearing students
