Qualifications and Desired Background:
- State certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (or eligibility to obtain)
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or closely related field
- Experience implementing IEPs and collaborating in multi-disciplinary teams
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and/or Signed Exact English (SEE), as required by district
- Strong communication abilities, both written and verbal
- Previous school-based experience preferred but not required; new graduates are encouraged to apply
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative services for students with hearing impairments in various educational settings
- Develop and adapt instructional materials to meet individual student needs
- Facilitate classroom inclusion and promote self-advocacy for students
- Participate in IEP meetings, assessments, and progress monitoring
- Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and families to support student success
