Preferred Qualifications & Experience:
- Active Professional Educator License (PEL) issued by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), with a Teacher of Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) endorsement
- Experience working with K-12 students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with students, families, and school staff
- Ability to tailor instruction for students with a range of hearing needs and academic levels
- Flexibility and adaptability to travel between school sites as needed
- Knowledge of current best practices and technologies in DHH education
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students on your caseload in alignment with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Serve as the DHH teacher for students with designated minutes per week
- Support students across a K-12 population, adjusting approach and materials to age and developmental level
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, and families to promote student success
- Advocate for accessibility and inclusion throughout the school community
