Qualifications and Experience Sought:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field
- Strong understanding of various communication modes (American Sign Language, spoken language, total communication, etc.)
- Experience with IEP development and implementation
- Knowledge of assistive listening devices and relevant educational technology
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and group instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, adapting techniques to meet diverse learning needs
- Assess student progress and contribute to IEP planning and service documentation
- Consult with general education teachers to ensure instructional strategies promote student participation in mainstream classrooms
- Provide advocacy and support to students and families regarding communication access and related resources
- Collaborate regularly with speech-language pathologists, audiologists, and other support staff
