Make a meaningful difference as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing on a contract basis in a school-based environment. In this role, you’ll deliver specialized education that supports and empowers students who are deaf or hard of hearing, fostering an inclusive and accessible learning experience.
What you’ll bring:
- Current teaching certification (as required for Deaf/Hard of Hearing educators).
- Proven experience working with children or youth who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Strong knowledge of best practices in auditory/oral, total communication, and/or American Sign Language (ASL).
- Ability to adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to meet individual student needs.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students, setting achievable goals for each learner.
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques and technologies to support student engagement and growth.
- Collaborate closely with general education teachers, specialists, and families to ensure student success and participation.
- Assess student progress, maintain accurate records, and regularly report on educational outcomes.
- Advocate for accessibility and inclusion in the classroom environment and across school activities.
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute expert recommendations regarding student accommodations.
