Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in San Mateo, CA

Step into a rewarding role supporting students with hearing differences in an onsite setting, where your expertise as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing will make a significant impact. This full-time opportunity runs from August 10, 2026, through June 4, 2027, with a schedule of 37.5 hours per week. You’ll serve as an itinerant educator, working across multiple school sites, delivering direct, in-person services and supporting a diverse caseload. This dynamic role is well-suited for someone who thrives in various educational environments and is committed to meeting each student’s unique needs.

Qualifications:

• Valid and active Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) certification/license in California is required.
• Previous experience working in California schools is highly preferred.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple caseloads effectively.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to work collaboratively with students, staff, and families.
• Proven adaptability to shift between school sites and provide high-quality in-person support.

Responsibilities:

• Provide specialized instruction, advocacy, and support for students who are deaf or hard of hearing across designated campuses.
• Collaborate with general and special education staff to develop, implement, and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs).
• Adapt curricula and modify materials to ensure accessibility and inclusion.
• Offer expertise and professional development to staff and families regarding best practices in deaf education.
• Serve as a point of contact for resources, technology, and accommodations pertinent to deaf/hard of hearing students.
