Key Qualifications:

  • Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
  • State teaching credentials (or eligibility to obtain)
  • Experience working with students with hearing impairments across various grade levels
  • Strong knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication modalities
  • Ability to create individualized education plans and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams
  • Familiarity with assistive technology and classroom accommodations for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing

Core Responsibilities:

  • Create and implement effective lesson plans tailored to meet each student’s unique communication and academic needs
  • Consult with classroom teachers, families, and support staff to promote inclusive and accessible learning environments
  • Administer assessments and monitor student progress, adjusting instruction accordingly
  • Foster social, behavioral, and self-advocacy skills in students
  • Provide direct and consultative services in both group and one-on-one settings
  • Participate in IEP meetings and maintain accurate documentation and progress reports
