Key Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- State teaching credentials (or eligibility to obtain)
- Experience working with students with hearing impairments across various grade levels
- Strong knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication modalities
- Ability to create individualized education plans and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams
- Familiarity with assistive technology and classroom accommodations for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
Core Responsibilities:
- Create and implement effective lesson plans tailored to meet each student’s unique communication and academic needs
- Consult with classroom teachers, families, and support staff to promote inclusive and accessible learning environments
- Administer assessments and monitor student progress, adjusting instruction accordingly
- Foster social, behavioral, and self-advocacy skills in students
- Provide direct and consultative services in both group and one-on-one settings
- Participate in IEP meetings and maintain accurate documentation and progress reports
