Step into an impactful educational role supporting deaf and hard-of-hearing students across K-12 classrooms as a Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher/Hearing Itinerant. This contract-based opportunity for the upcoming school year offers the chance to make a real difference by providing specialized instruction to students, fostering their academic and social-emotional growth. With a full-time schedule of 37.5 hours each week, you’ll engage as an invaluable advocate and guide for your caseload, delivering direct services and supporting inclusive environments.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid Professional Educator License (PEL) issued by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) with a Teacher of Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) endorsement
- Proven experience or strong aptitude in working with school-age children who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Familiarity with IEP implementation and service delivery in a school setting
- Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
- Ability to travel between multiple schools as an itinerant teacher
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary DHH teacher for students across multiple grade levels, providing direct instruction as outlined in their individualized plans
- Adapt curriculum and communication to meet diverse needs, supporting both students in mainstream classrooms and those needing more intensive support
- Consult with general education staff, provide resources, and advocate for accessibility and inclusion
- Monitor progress and maintain accurate records for students on your caseload
- Partner with families and interdisciplinary teams to optimize student outcomes
