Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in Schenectady, NY

Key Qualifications:

• Valid New York State certification as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH)
• Demonstrated experience or strong interest in supporting K-12 students with hearing differences
• Ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learners and communicate clearly with students, staff, and families
• Competency integrating assistive technology, creating accessible materials, and supporting IEP development
• Adaptability for both in-person and remote teaching environments

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct instruction tailored for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students across elementary through high school grade levels
• Collaborate with general education teachers, interpreters, and related service providers to promote inclusive and supportive academic experiences
• Develop and implement IEP goals, monitor student progress, and document outcomes
• Facilitate communication strategies and tools to empower students’ participation in school activities
• Serve as a resource for school staff and families, offering guidance on best practices for accessibility and student advocacy
