Make a meaningful difference by supporting students as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing on a contract basis. This role provides a dynamic opportunity to empower young learners who are deaf or hard of hearing, helping them access education and communicate confidently in an inclusive environment.
Key Qualifications:
- State certification/license in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education (or eligibility)
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing or related field
- Strong knowledge of assistive hearing technologies and communication modalities (e.g., ASL, total communication, auditory-oral)
- Experience developing and implementing IEPs for students with hearing loss
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, therapists, families, and administrators
- Excellent communication, organization, and advocacy skills
- Previous experience in a school setting is highly preferred
Core Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction tailored to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, both individually and in group settings
- Adapt curriculum materials and teaching strategies to ensure student engagement and understanding
- Conduct assessments and contribute to the IEP process, monitoring student progress and adjusting goals as needed
- Serve as a resource to school staff, providing training or support as appropriate
- Facilitate communication between students, teachers, families, and additional service providers
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment
