Teacher of the Deaf in Seattle, WA

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Valid teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing Education (or eligibility to obtain)
• Experience working with D/HH students in a school or similar educational setting
• Knowledge of current best practices in deaf education, assistive technology, and curriculum adaptations
• Familiarity with, or willingness to learn, American Sign Language (ASL)
• Strong communication, collaboration, and organization skills
• Ability to tailor instruction to a variety of learning styles and needs

Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct and consultative services to students with hearing loss from diverse backgrounds
• Develop and implement IEPs, assess student progress, and adjust strategies as needed
• Work collaboratively with general education teachers, families, and related service providers
• Facilitate communication access in the classroom using appropriate technology and accommodations
• Provide guidance and support to staff and families regarding effective strategies and resources
• Attend meetings, participate in professional development, and maintain required documentation
