Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid state teaching certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
  • Previous experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing (preferred)
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and/or Signed Exact English (SEE) a strong asset
  • Ability to develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with students, families, and staff
  • Dedication to inclusive education and supporting diverse learners
  • Ability to adapt instructional materials and technology as needed

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction to students, adapting teaching methods to suit individual needs
  • Evaluate and monitor student progress; implement and update IEPs
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, and family members to ensure holistic support
  • Serve as an educational resource and advocate for students with hearing impairments
  • Assist in creating accessible learning resources and classroom modifications
  • Facilitate communication between students, staff, and parents, promoting understanding and inclusion
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and school meetings
