Key Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification as a Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing (or the ability to obtain it)
- Experience developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Solid knowledge of auditory and language development, amplification, and assistive technology
- Strong collaboration skills to work with multidisciplinary teams, families, and general education staff
- Ability to adapt instruction and materials to accommodate diverse learning styles and communication modalities
- Passion for advocating for students’ access and inclusion
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students with hearing impairments in accordance with IEP goals
- Assess student progress and modify instructional strategies as needed
- Collaborate with speech-language pathologists, audiologists, and other professionals to support student needs
- Counsel and coach families, helping them reinforce skills and foster a supportive home environment
- Participate in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings, and ongoing professional development
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with school and state requirements
