Make a difference supporting students as a specialist working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing learners. This contract opportunity will allow you to bring your expertise to a collaborative educational environment in the Chattanooga area. Full-time work (35 hours per week) begins August 5, 2026, and continues through May 19, 2027. Your efforts will empower students across various grades, with final caseload details and age groups to be determined as the district finalizes its roster.
Skills and Experience Sought:
- Valid DOE certification is required for this role
- Experience teaching or supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Strong communication skills and a commitment to inclusive education
- Ability to adapt to different school settings and caseloads
- Willingness to complete required fingerprinting and background checks before start date
Your Essential Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support tailored to students with hearing loss
- Collaborate with general and special education staff to ensure accessibility and student progress
- Develop, modify, and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Support families with guidance and resources to enhance student outcomes
- Engage in case management and report on student development and performance
- Serve multiple schools as needed; assignments may vary
