Empower students to thrive in an inclusive educational environment as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing for the 2026-2027 academic year! In this supportive and collaborative contract position, you'll serve students throughout the Chattanooga area, offering your expertise to those who need it most. The school district will assign you to one or more campuses, where you’ll be part of a dynamic educational team making a meaningful impact on young lives.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver tailored instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing across various grade levels (specific age groups and caseload details to be provided prior to assignment)
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, parents, and support staff to develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs)
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute your specialized knowledge to student planning
  • Utilize assistive technology and innovative teaching strategies to engage students in the learning process
  • Maintain accurate documentation related to student progress and compliance with DOE and district requirements
  • Consult with educational teams on best practices for accessibility and support

Qualifications:

  • Current and active DOE Certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH)
  • Experience as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing within school settings is highly desired
  • Flexibility to work across different school sites in the Chattanooga region
  • Ability to pass fingerprint/background check per credentialing requirements
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
