Desired Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Master’s degree in Deaf Education or related field preferred
- Experience utilizing a range of communication methods (e.g., ASL, total communication, auditory/oral)
- Familiarity with IEP processes and documentation
- Strong advocacy skills and a student-centered mindset
- Ability to work cooperatively with general education teachers, families, and other professionals
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction to students with hearing loss in various instructional settings
- Adapt and modify curriculum to meet individual student needs and ensure access
- Develop, implement, and evaluate IEPs in collaboration with school teams
- Provide consultation and guidance to educators and families regarding accommodations and assistive technology
- Monitor student progress and adjust interventions as needed
- Support students in building self-advocacy skills and confidence
- Participate in ongoing professional learning to remain current on best practices in deaf education
