Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid teaching certification with Deaf/Hard of Hearing endorsement (or eligibility)
- Previous experience as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing in a school environment preferred
- Strong understanding of strategies, technology, and accommodations that support Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
- Confidence with various communication modes (American Sign Language, spoken language, Cued Speech, or other as appropriate)
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, working effectively with teachers, administrators, students, and families
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver and adapt curriculum to meet the educational needs of Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
- Provide direct instruction and interventions tailored to individual student abilities
- Collaborate with general education teachers and specialists to ensure students’ access and participation
- Implement IEPs and participate in the development, review, and evaluation process
- Facilitate communication among students, staff, and families, promoting self-advocacy and independence
- Stay current with best practices in Deaf education and regularly integrate new strategies or resources
