Make a meaningful impact supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in an enriching K-12 educational setting in the Chattanooga area. This full-time contract opportunity calls for a passionate educator eager to inspire growth and foster inclusion over the 2026-2027 school year. You'll work closely with students across various campuses, developing and implementing specialized instruction tailored to their individual needs. As the district finalizes caseloads and age groups, your adaptability and dedication will ensure every student receives the support they deserve.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Current DOE certification required
  • Experience teaching Deaf or Hard of Hearing students in a school setting preferred
  • Commitment to collaborating with school teams, families, and specialized staff
  • Knowledge of hearing assistive technology and accommodations
  • Completion of fingerprinting and all credentialing requirements prior to start date

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction to students with hearing loss, adapting curriculum and communication strategies
  • Develop Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and track student progress
  • Serve as a resource for colleagues on best instructional practices for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
  • Foster a supportive, inclusive classroom environment
  • Consult regularly with related service providers and families
  • Travel between campuses as assigned (assignment details confirmed prior to start)
  • Maintain thorough documentation and communication, adhering to district and state requirements

This contract role will begin August 2026 and continue through May 2027, with a 35-hour work week during the academic term. Final assignment details, including school locations and caseload breakdowns, will be communicated as planning for the upcoming school year is completed.
