Make a meaningful impact on students’ lives working as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing in a dynamic school-based setting near Southaven, MS. In this contract position, you’ll foster an inclusive learning environment, ensuring that students with hearing needs receive the support and instruction required to succeed academically and socially.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Current teaching certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (or eligibility to obtain)
  • Experience working with children who are deaf or hard of hearing in educational settings
  • Proficiency with sign language and assistive listening/audiological technology
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and advocacy abilities
  • Ability to adapt instructional materials to various learning styles and needs
  • Commitment to facilitating positive student outcomes and a supportive classroom environment

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for each student served
  • Deliver specialized instruction in individual, small group, and inclusion settings
  • Collaborate effectively with general education teachers, speech/language therapists, and other school professionals
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians on progress and student needs
  • Maintain detailed records and ensure compliance with all reporting and documentation requirements
  • Foster skills in self-advocacy, communication, and social interaction to promote student independence
