Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- State certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing, or eligibility for certification
- Professional experience teaching students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, preferably in a K-12 environment
- Strong communication skills, with proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) highly valued
- Ability to collaborate with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams to support educational goals
- Understanding of IEP processes and experience with individualized instruction
- Passion for cultivating accessible, engaging learning experiences
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, adapting materials and approaches to meet diverse needs
- Participate in IEP development and implementation, monitoring progress and making informed recommendations
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to promote student success and inclusion
- Provide resources, training, and support for staff and students to enhance accessibility and communication within the educational environment
- Maintain accurate documentation and comply with legal and ethical guidelines
