Key Qualifications:

• Valid California credential for teaching Deaf/Hard of Hearing students (or eligibility)
• Experience with various communication modalities, such as ASL, Signed English, or oral approaches
• Strong skills in developing and adapting Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and families
• Commitment to advocacy and educational equity
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction tailored to students with hearing impairments, individually or in small groups
• Assess students’ strengths and needs and regularly monitor progress
• Develop and implement IEP goals supporting both academic and functional communication growth
• Consult with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service providers to ensure accessibility and inclusion
• Advocate for appropriate accommodations and assistive technology
• Educate and empower school staff and families about hearing loss and effective strategies
• Maintain thorough, timely documentation as required by school and regulatory guidelines
