Key Qualifications:

  • Valid and active Washington teaching license in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
  • Experience working as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing in a school setting preferred
  • Strong understanding of strategies and technologies to support deaf/hard of hearing students
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with students, families, and staff
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and accessible classroom environment

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing across grade levels
  • Assess student progress and adapt teaching methods to suit individual educational plans
  • Partner with general education teachers and related service providers to deliver accommodations and modify curriculum as needed
  • Support student advocacy, self-advocacy, communication strategies, and social skills development
  • Maintain accurate records and document student progress to support IEP goals
  • Engage families in the educational process and provide resources and support as needed
