DHH Teacher | Tacoma, Washington

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with hearing impairments
• Adapt curriculum and instructional techniques to meet students’ diverse needs
• Collaborate with general education teachers, school staff, and families for inclusive and supportive learning environments
• Provide direct instruction using American Sign Language (ASL), speech, or other preferred communication methods
• Assess student progress and modify strategies for optimal outcomes
• Advocate for student accommodations, accessibility, and success within the school community

Qualifications:

• Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
• Bachelor’s degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or related field (Master’s preferred)
• Experience working with children or adolescents who are deaf or hard of hearing
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication modalities
• Strong collaboration and communication skills with students, colleagues, and parents
