Qualifications & Experience:

  • Certified to teach students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
  • Experience working in a school-based setting or with children is preferred
  • Knowledge of assistive technology and alternative communication methods (such as American Sign Language)
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with students, staff, and families
  • Ability to develop and implement individualized educational plans (IEPs) tailored to student needs

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, adapting curriculum and teaching methods as necessary
  • Assess student abilities and progress; participate in IEP meetings and contribute to goal setting
  • Collaborate with general education staff, interpreters, and other specialists to create supportive, accessible classroom environments
  • Provide resources, training, and support to colleagues and families to promote understanding and inclusion
  • Monitor and document student progress, adjusting instruction and services as needed
  • Stay current with best practices in Deaf education and implement new approaches that enhance student engagement and success
