In this itinerant role, you’ll work across Bond, Fayette, and Montgomery counties, collaborating with educators and families to empower students of all ages.
Key Qualifications:
- Current certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing, or eligibility to obtain.
- Experience teaching or supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing in school settings.
- Familiarity with a range of communication methods, assistive technology, and instructional adaptations.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills in working with teachers, families, and support staff.
- Ability to travel between sites as part of an itinerant assignment.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules or student needs.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, positive learning environment.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing in accordance with their IEPs.
- Collaborate with general education teachers and other service providers to adapt curriculum and teaching strategies.
- Consult with educators and caregivers to promote accessibility and inclusion.
- Help implement and monitor the use of assistive listening devices or other technology.
- Participate in IEP meetings, progress reporting, and data collection.
- Travel to multiple school sites within the designated counties as needed.
- Promote self-advocacy and independence among DHH students.
