Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (TDHH) | Taylorville, Illinois

This rewarding contract position starts in November and extends through the end of the school year, with both full- and part-time options to fit your schedule. In this itinerant role, you’ll work across Bond, Fayette, and Montgomery counties, collaborating with educators and families to empower students of all ages.

Key Qualifications:

• Current certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing, or eligibility to obtain.
• Experience teaching or supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing in school settings.
• Familiarity with a range of communication methods, assistive technology, and instructional adaptations.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills in working with teachers, families, and support staff.
• Ability to travel between sites as part of an itinerant assignment.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules or student needs.
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive, positive learning environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide specialized instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing in accordance with their IEPs.
• Collaborate with general education teachers and other service providers to adapt curriculum and teaching strategies.
• Consult with educators and caregivers to promote accessibility and inclusion.
• Help implement and monitor the use of assistive listening devices or other technology.
• Participate in IEP meetings, progress reporting, and data collection.
• Travel to multiple school sites within the designated counties as needed.
• Promote self-advocacy and independence among DHH students.
