A full-time teaching role is available to support a kindergarten student who is Deaf or Hard of Hearing, utilizing telehealth methods to deliver specialized instruction. This position offers a unique opportunity to influence early language acquisition and communication development for a young learner currently unfamiliar with American Sign Language (ASL). The student is equipped with a cochlear implant and is beginning to learn basic signs, requiring focused guidance and tailored teaching strategies.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing comprehensive instruction in ASL and facilitating language acquisition through telehealth platforms
- Designing and implementing individualized educational plans that address the student's current communication abilities and promote progress
- Collaborating with families and support professionals to enhance learning outcomes and ensure consistent communication support
- Monitoring and documenting student progress, adjusting instructional approaches as necessary
- Delivering services adhering to best practices for Deaf and Hard of Hearing education in a virtual setting
Qualifications and desired experience:
- Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing preferred
- Experience working with young children, specifically kindergarten-aged students
- Proficient knowledge of ASL and strategies for teaching language acquisition to children with hearing differences
- Familiarity with telehealth technologies and remote instructional delivery
- Ability to engage and motivate students in a virtual learning environment
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
