Key Qualifications:

  • Valid teaching certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing or eligibility in the state.
  • Expertise in creating and delivering individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with hearing loss.
  • Proficiency with American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other communication modalities preferred.
  • Experience collaborating with general education teachers, support staff, and families to foster student success.
  • Previous work supporting students across a range of ages and hearing abilities is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement engaging, accessible lesson plans meeting each student’s unique needs.
  • Assess student progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed.
  • Advocate for accommodations, assistive technology, and resources promoting equitable learning.
  • Conduct staff training and provide consultative support to ensure classroom inclusivity.
  • Foster positive relationships with students and their families, encouraging active participation in the educational process.
  • Maintain thorough documentation in alignment with school and district requirements.
