Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Valid teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
  • Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, preferably in a school setting
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication methods used in deaf education
  • Ability to adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to meet individual student needs
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and staff
  • A patient, enthusiastic, and adaptable approach to teaching

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) in consultation with the IEP team
  • Provide direct instruction and support tailored to deaf and hard of hearing students across grade levels
  • Adapt and modify instructional materials to be accessible for students
  • Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to promote inclusion and accessibility
  • Offer guidance and resources to families to help support students’ learning at home
  • Monitor and document student progress, making adjustments as needed to ensure success
