Make a meaningful impact in the lives of students as an Itinerant Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) for a full school year. This dynamic, full-time contract role is based near Vancouver, WA, and offers a flexible schedule while allowing you to support students in a variety of educational settings. As an itinerant educator, you will travel weekly to different schools within the district, collaborating closely with staff, families, and students to foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Active OSPI Certification with a DHH endorsement is required
- Proven experience supporting students with hearing aids, cochlear implants, and working with FM and ASL users
- Strong understanding of accommodations and assistive technology for DHH learners
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and adapt to varied school settings
- Commitment to individualized instruction and student-centered support
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative services to DHH students across multiple campuses
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in collaboration with general and special education staff
- Provide training, resources, and support to classroom teachers and staff to ensure effective inclusion and access
- Support students’ use of assistive technology, including cochlear implants, hearing aids, FM systems, and ASL interpreters
- Facilitate strong partnerships with families and caregivers, maintaining regular communication regarding student progress
- Stay current on best practices and legal requirements for DHH education
