Key Qualifications:

  • Current certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (TDHH) or eligibility to obtain certification
  • Experience working with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in school-based environments
  • Strong understanding of auditory, speech-language, and communication needs
  • Proficient in the use of assistive technology and classroom accommodations
  • Commitment to fostering inclusive learning environments
  • Ability to adapt instruction to meet individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Solid collaboration skills with other educators, support staff, and families

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction to students with hearing loss based on individual education and communication needs
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that align with IEP goals and state standards
  • Advocate for student's access and participation in the general education curriculum
  • Work closely with general and special education teachers, speech-language pathologists, and other professionals to deliver comprehensive support
  • Monitor and document student progress, making data-driven instructional decisions
  • Serve as a resource to school staff and families about hearing loss, communication options, and learning strategies
  • Participate actively in IEP meetings and interdisciplinary team discussions
