Key Qualifications:

  • Current or pending state licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing
  • Experience supporting students in educational settings, ideally K-12
  • Solid understanding of various communication modalities (e.g., ASL, spoken English, cued speech)
  • Strong advocacy, interpersonal, and consultative skills
  • Ability to design and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to students' unique needs
  • Familiarity with assistive listening technology and strategies to optimize access
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive classroom atmosphere

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop and adapt instructional materials and activities for students with hearing loss
  • Collaborate with classroom educators, related service providers, and families to ensure accessibility
  • Perform student assessments and track progress toward goals
  • Provide direct instruction and support to students both individually and in groups
  • Consult on classroom accommodations, technology needs, and teaching strategies
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to ongoing educational planning
  • Engage in professional development to stay current in best practices
