Desired Experience and Qualifications:

  • Valid teaching credential with a specialization in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
  • Proven experience in instructing students with hearing impairments in school settings
  • Strong knowledge of auditory/oral, total communication, and American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Ability to conduct and interpret audiological and educational assessments
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with teachers, families, and support staff
  • Familiarity with creating and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Adaptability in working with students ranging from preschool to high school

Core Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver individualized and group instruction to Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
  • Modify curriculum and classroom materials to meet diverse learning needs
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, and support personnel to promote inclusion
  • Provide consultative support and training to educational staff and families
  • Monitor student progress and revise instructional strategies accordingly
  • Advocate for accessibility and equal participation in all school activities
