Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid teaching certification with a specialization in Deaf / Hard of Hearing education.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of various communication modalities, including American Sign Language and oral/auditory approaches.
  • Experience developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Skilled in adapting curriculum and classroom strategies to suit diverse learning styles and auditory preferences.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills to engage collaboratively with colleagues and families.
  • Previous school-based or contract teaching experience is highly valued.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, tailoring lessons to accommodate individual educational plans.
  • Assess student progress regularly, updating instructional strategies to promote growth and achievement.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and related service providers to ensure accessible and equitable learning opportunities.
  • Advocate for students’ needs within the school community and through regular communication with families.
  • Support students in developing self-advocacy, language, and social interaction skills.
