Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid teaching certification with a specialization in Deaf / Hard of Hearing education.
- Comprehensive knowledge of various communication modalities, including American Sign Language and oral/auditory approaches.
- Experience developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Skilled in adapting curriculum and classroom strategies to suit diverse learning styles and auditory preferences.
- Strong teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills to engage collaboratively with colleagues and families.
- Previous school-based or contract teaching experience is highly valued.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, tailoring lessons to accommodate individual educational plans.
- Assess student progress regularly, updating instructional strategies to promote growth and achievement.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and related service providers to ensure accessible and equitable learning opportunities.
- Advocate for students’ needs within the school community and through regular communication with families.
- Support students in developing self-advocacy, language, and social interaction skills.
