An exciting contract opportunity is available for a skilled Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing to work with an early childhood caseload (birth–5 years old). This role is vital in helping children with hearing challenges develop essential communication and social-emotional skills.
This position begins as soon as possible and runs through May 20, 2027, offering the flexibility of either full-time or part-time schedules (part-time between 15–25 hours per week). The work is exclusively onsite, allowing you to directly engage with students, families, and educational teams to provide hands-on support.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid teaching certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
- Experience in early childhood special education, preferably working with children from birth to 5 years
- Strong knowledge of various communication modalities, including American Sign Language and listening & spoken language techniques
- Familiarity with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and early intervention services
- Excellent collaboration, communication, and organizational skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Develop and implement individualized education plans tailored to each student’s unique needs
- Collaborate with general education staff, specialists, and families to ensure cohesive support
- Offer guidance and resources to parents and caregivers to promote language acquisition at home
- Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor progress and adjust interventions as needed
