Step into an impactful opportunity supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing across a district-wide assignment near Wichita, KS. In this contract position, you’ll be instrumental in delivering specialized instruction and services spanning early childhood through grade 12. You’ll work within both mainstream and specialized settings, providing guidance, fostering communication through sign language or spoken language, and advocating for accessibility in all learning environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction that meets the unique educational needs of Deaf/Hard of Hearing students (EC-12).
- Adapt curriculum and classroom materials to ensure comprehension and engagement.
- Facilitate effective communication through sign language or spoken language, as appropriate to each student’s needs.
- Manage, monitor, and instruct the use of assistive technologies to support access to instruction.
- Develop and implement IEP goals, collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams, families, and other educators.
- Advocate for students by promoting accessibility and inclusion throughout multiple district locations.
- Track student progress and respond with data-driven adjustments to instruction and support.
What We’re Looking For:
- Valid teaching certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing in Kansas, or willingness/eligibility to obtain.
- Experience supporting Deaf/Hard of Hearing students, ideally across a range of ages and instructional settings.
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other relevant communication modalities.
- Strong knowledge of IEP processes and special education best practices.
- Ability to travel within the district for onsite services at multiple schools.
- Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive, and accessible learning environment.
