Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
  • Experience working in educational settings with students who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Strong understanding of language acquisition, communication modalities, and assistive technologies
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and families
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities
  • Commitment to fostering accessibility and equity in education

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction tailored to the individual needs of deaf/hard of hearing students
  • Develop and adapt lesson plans, objectives, and materials to align with student goals and IEPs
  • Serve as a resource to general education teachers, offering strategies and support for full classroom inclusion
  • Maintain accurate records, progress reports, and documentation
  • Actively participate in IEP meetings and interdisciplinary team discussions
  • Advocate for students’ needs and foster self-advocacy skills
  • Stay current with best practices and technologies in deaf education
