Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid state licensure or eligibility as a Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing
  • Experience working in educational settings with Deaf/Hard of Hearing students preferred
  • Proficiency with sign language and alternative communication methods
  • Strong collaborative and communication skills
  • Creative, patient approach to individualized instruction and IEP implementation
  • Commitment to supporting diverse student needs in an inclusive environment

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and support to students with hearing loss, adapting content and teaching strategies to individual needs
  • Collaborate with general education staff, support personnel, and families to implement IEPs and facilitate student success
  • Conduct and interpret assessments to inform instructional planning for accessibility and progress
  • Advocate for student inclusion and accessibility across the school community
  • Monitor, document, and report on student progress and response to interventions
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to multidisciplinary educational teams
  • Offer consultation and training for fellow educators on accommodations and best practices
