Qualifications/Experience:
- Valid teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing Education.
- Thorough understanding of language development and instructional strategies for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
- Familiarity with assistive technology, auditory/oral, total communication, or bilingual-bicultural approaches.
- Strong interpersonal and advocacy skills to work with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience tailoring curriculum modifications and implementing IEPs in line with state and federal guidelines.
- Competence in American Sign Language (ASL) preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support for students with hearing loss, both individually and in group settings.
- Develop and adapt lesson plans that foster academic growth, language acquisition, and self-advocacy skills.
- Collaborate with general education staff to create accessible learning experiences and classroom environments.
- Assess student progress, participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, and contribute to IEP development.
- Consult with educational staff and families, providing training on accommodations, communication strategies, and use of amplification devices.
- Stay current with best practices and emerging technologies in Deaf Education.
