This contract position offers the opportunity to work 20 hours per week in an itinerant role serving K-12 students near Winston-Salem, NC. The upcoming 26/27 school year brings an exciting need for a compassionate and skilled professional ready to provide specialized instruction, advocate for students, and collaborate within a supportive educational environment.
Your expertise as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing will help students thrive by ensuring access to the curriculum, fostering communication skills, and supporting success both in and out of the classroom. If you are licensed in special education, there is an option to expand to a full-time position as well.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid state licensure/certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Experience working with K-12 students in school settings
- Strong understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs) and specialized instructional strategies
- Comfort serving as an itinerant teacher, traveling between sites as needed
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, staff, and families
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet varying student needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students with hearing impairments across grade levels
- Develop and implement IEP goals tailored to each student’s strengths and needs
- Consult with classroom teachers and support staff on accommodations and accessibility
- Foster self-advocacy and independence in students
- Maintain timely documentation and progress reports as required
- Participate in team meetings and IEP reviews
