Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher - Yuba City, California

Make a meaningful difference in the lives of students as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing, supporting learners across an entire county. This contract position is ideal for an educator who values direct, on-site connection with students, providing essential services not only in one school, but moving between locations as needed. With a caseload of approximately 30 students, including some with cochlear implants, you’ll have the opportunity to deliver individualized support, advocate for your students, and foster inclusive educational environments.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

• Valid certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing Education
• Experience supporting students with varying degrees of hearing loss, including those with cochlear implants
• Ability to travel between multiple school sites within the county
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with staff, students, and families
• Deep understanding of instructional strategies and accommodations for DHH students
• Commitment to on-site work; remote/virtual services are not part of this position

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction and consultative support to DHH students across multiple school sites
• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student’s unique needs
• Assess student progress and adjust instructional strategies as necessary
• Serve as a resource and advocate for best practices at each location
• Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, and parents to ensure a cohesive learning experience
• Offer expertise regarding assistive technology and support for students with cochlear implants
