This full-time position, offering 37.5 hours per week, provides the opportunity to work with a small, manageable caseload of five middle and high school students, supporting their growth and academic success in an inclusive learning environment.
Desired Qualifications:
- Certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired
- Experience supporting middle and/or high school students with visual impairments
- Proficiency in Braille instruction, assistive technology, and accessible instructional materials
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with students, families, and educational teams
- Ability to tailor teaching strategies for individual learning needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative instructional services to students with visual impairments
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Modify and adapt curriculum materials to meet accessibility needs
- Teach Braille, orientation and mobility concepts, and use of specialized tools and devices
- Serve as a resource to school staff regarding best practices for supporting visually impaired learners
- Track student progress and communicate regularly with parents and educational staff
