As a Teacher for the Visually Impaired, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and provide specialized instruction that enables students to access the full curriculum and reach their individual goals.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid teaching certification with an endorsement in Visual Impairment or eligibility for certification in your state
  • Experience working with students (K-12) who are blind or visually impaired
  • Proficiency with Braille instruction, assistive technology, and accessibility tools
  • Strong communication and organization skills
  • Ability to adapt teaching strategies for diverse learning needs
  • Collaborative approach to working with educators, families, and related service providers

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to each student’s needs
  • Assess functional vision and learning environments to recommend appropriate modifications
  • Teach Braille reading and writing, orientation and mobility, and use of assistive technology
  • Consult with general education teachers and staff to ensure accommodations are in place
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of student progress and services provided
  • Foster an inclusive and supportive classroom environment
