Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Special Education, Visual Impairment, or related field
  • Experience developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Strong skills in using and teaching adaptive technology and braille
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration abilities
  • Flexibility and enthusiasm for working with diverse student populations

Responsibilities:

  • Assess students’ visual abilities and collaborate with educational teams to develop effective accommodations
  • Design and deliver individualized instruction aligned with IEP goals
  • Support classroom teachers and staff in modifying curriculum and learning environments for accessibility
  • Guide students in developing independence and confidence using assistive technology and mobility tools
  • Serve as an advocate and resource for both students and families throughout the educational process
  • Keep accurate records, progress reports, and documentation in compliance with program and state requirements
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices
