This contract position is an opportunity to deliver meaningful instruction, promote independence, and collaborate within a dedicated educational network. Engage with students and educators in creating accessible learning environments while utilizing your expertise in visual impairment and adaptive techniques.

We are especially interested in educators with versatile credentials, including those dually certified as both a Visually Impaired teacher and Orientation & Mobility (O&M) specialist. Additionally, if you have experience as a braille transcriber or can refer someone with this skillset, there is the potential to play an integral role in supporting our program’s success.

Qualifications and Experience Sought:

  • State certification or licensure as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired; O&M certification highly desirable
  • Proven classroom experience working with visually impaired students in a school setting
  • Competency in assessing student needs and developing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Effective communication and collaboration with education teams, parents, and support staff
  • Knowledge of accessible technologies, tactile graphics, and adaptive equipment
  • Braille proficiency and experience in transcription are a significant plus

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized and group instruction tailored for students with visual impairments
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, therapists, and families to adapt curriculum materials
  • Guide students in the use of assistive technology and tools to enhance learning
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to IEP development and progress tracking
  • If certified, deliver Orientation & Mobility instruction to foster student independence
  • Support the creation and transcription of classroom materials into accessible formats
