Make a difference by supporting students with visual impairments in a rewarding contract role for the 2026–2027 school year. This position focuses on providing direct and indirect instructional minutes to approximately 23 students, one of whom is currently learning Braille. With a manageable caseload and flexible, part-time hours of around 20 hours each week, you’ll work alongside dedicated educators to foster independence and access for visually impaired learners.
What Makes You a Strong Fit:
- Hold a valid Blind or Visually Impaired (BVI) teaching license issued by the Minnesota Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB)
- Prior experience instructing students with visual impairments, including adapting materials and supporting Braille literacy
- Strong communication skills enabling effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, families, and school staff
- Demonstrated ability to assess student needs and tailor instructional strategies accordingly
- Committed to delivering direct and indirect support without case management responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instructional services for approximately 23 students in alignment with educational goals
- Deliver Braille instruction and adapt curriculum materials for accessibility as needed
- Consult and collaborate with classroom teachers, paraprofessionals, and other support staff to maximize student participation
- Document services provided and communicate progress to relevant team members
- Support students in developing both academic and compensatory skills essential for success
