Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students with visual impairments for the 2026/2027 school year. This role focuses on delivering specialized instruction and support—not case management—to approximately 23 students, including one Braille learner. With roughly 20 hours a week on-site, you’ll make a genuine difference in student access and experience within a supportive school community.
Qualifications:
- Active Minnesota Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB) Blind or Visually Impaired (BVI) teaching license—required for consideration
- Previous experience as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired/Blind (TVI/BVI), delivering both direct and consultative services
- Ability to adapt curriculum and instruction to meet individual visual impairments and learning needs
- Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills
- Comfort working independently while also collaborating with educational teams and specialists
- Experience with Braille instruction is a plus
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and indirect instructional services to approximately 23 students with visual impairments
- Deliver specialized strategies, adapted materials, and individualized support based on IEPs and student learning goals
- Support one student in acquiring and using Braille
- Consult with classroom teachers, related service providers, and families to enhance student inclusion and learning outcomes
- Maintain accurate documentation of service minutes and student progress as required
