Step into an impactful educational role supporting students with visual impairments across elementary and middle grade levels. This full-time contract opportunity focuses on direct service to a diverse K–8 caseload, based at two schools per day within a supportive school cluster. Your expertise will ensure every student receives individualized instruction tailored to their unique learning needs.
Key Qualifications:
- Active educator certification and national certification required
- Proven experience as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) or serving visually impaired students in school settings
- Thorough understanding of accessible curriculum adaptation, braille instruction, assistive technology, and orientation & mobility strategies
- Strong organizational skills to manage itinerant responsibilities and collaborate with multiple school teams
- Commitment to meeting all district background check, fingerprinting, and documentation requirements in a timely manner
Core Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction for approximately 12 students, grades K–8, spread across a manageable itinerant cluster
- Collaborate with general education teachers, families, and ancillary staff to ensure seamless support and integration for students with visual impairments
- Conduct ongoing assessments, adapt lesson plans, and track student progress toward individualized goals
- Share expertise in accessible technology and instructional modifications with colleagues
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute meaningful input to team discussions for optimal student outcomes
