Make a meaningful impact supporting students across multiple schools as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired. This contract position is located in the Apopka, FL area, serving a diverse caseload of K-12 students and offers a unique hybrid work model. Some days you’ll provide essential direct services on-site, while others may allow for virtual support, depending on district and student needs—a flexible approach that will be discussed during the interview process. The district is actively interviewing as of 7/21, so timely application is encouraged.
Key Qualifications:
- Professional Florida Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) license required
- Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) certification required
- Testing background for student screenings
- School-based experience strongly preferred, but not required
- Ability to travel between schools; travel candidates encouraged
- Willingness to work a flexible full-time schedule (35 hours/week)
Responsibilities:
- Serve approximately 15–20 students district-wide, both directly and through consultative, indirect services
- Cover multiple schools (itinerant role—2 or 3 schools daily, up to 13 sites total)
- Perform screenings and assessments to determine students’ needs
- Develop and deliver instructional strategies for visually impaired students K-12
- Collaborate regularly with school staff, families, and special education teams
- Schedule developed collaboratively to provide a balance between service delivery and commute
