Key Qualifications:

• Current certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
• Experience working in a school setting, specifically with students who are visually impaired
• Strong knowledge of adaptive technology, Braille, and accessible curriculum strategies
• Excellent communication skills to work effectively with staff, families, and students
• Ability to assess student needs and develop individualized educational plans
• Creative problem-solving skills and a patient, supportive attitude

Core Responsibilities:

• Deliver specialized instruction tailored to visually impaired students from K-12
• Adapt curriculum materials and create accessible learning resources
• Consult and collaborate with general education teachers and support staff
• Provide direct and indirect services per Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Monitor and document student progress, adjusting strategies as needed
• Offer guidance and workshops for faculty and families regarding vision accommodations and support strategies
• Stay informed of developments in assistive technologies and teaching best practices
