Preferred qualifications:
- Certification or endorsement as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Demonstrated experience working with students who are visually impaired, preferably in a school setting
- Strong collaboration skills for partnering with general education teachers, staff, and families
- Proficiency in adapting curriculum and learning materials for visual accessibility (Braille, large print, assistive technology)
- Ability to assess visual functioning and develop appropriate IEP goals
- Passion for fostering independence and confidence in learners
Responsibilities include:
- Providing direct instruction to one student in a dedicated school building
- Adapting educational materials and teaching methods to meet individual needs
- Consulting regularly with classroom teachers, therapists, and family members
- Monitoring progress, collecting data, and contributing to IEP meetings
- Utilizing and maintaining assistive devices and accessibility tools
- Supporting the overall social and academic development of your student
